Plan you garden.
Consider the herbs you want to plant. Think about their types. Would you like annuals, biennials or perennials?
How much space will they occupy in your garden? If you want, you can purchase a book that can give you the right information on what specific plants you are planning to grow.
List or draw your garden on paper first. Separate the annuals from the perennials so when the time comes that you have to pull out the annuals, you won’t be disturbing the perennials. Perennials can be planted on the edge of your garden so when it is time to till your garden; you won’t have a hard time.
Another thing to remember is that you have to plant the tall ones at the back and the shorter ones in front. Also, provide your plants with enough space to grow. Proper position shall help you in this area.

You can consider having a square herb bed. You can have your square bed divided into four by two paths crossing at mid point measuring 3 feet. You can border it with stone or brick. A wooden ladder may also do the trick. You can lay it down on your garden and plant your herbs between its rungs. You can also choose to have a wagon wheel bed. Planting here is like planting with the wooden ladders. Plant your herbs in between the wagon wheel’s wedges.

Miniature Roses Have Many Uses
Among the most charming and delightful of plants, miniature roses come in the same multitude of colors and varieties as their full size cousins. They’re perfect for container gardens, but do just as well planted in the ground. Their small buds and blooms are beautiful in corsages and arrangements, tucked into a small vase on a tray or picked and carefully dried in potpourri.
While small in size, most miniatures are highly scented, and just a few small bushes can perfume the air in the entire garden. That, and the ease of growing the hardy little perennials has made them increasingly popular with home gardeners. Their versatility makes them as at home tumbling over a trellis to create a romantic, rose covered gazebo as they are in a neatly trained border along the side of a driveway.
Miniature roses are, by definition, compact bushes with abundant blooms. A single miniature rose bush can have hundreds of flowers. There are a number of different varieties of miniatures, separated by size and growing behavior.
Micro-minis are particularly delightful, maturing at between 6 and 12 inches of height, with blooms as small as 1/4 inch across. They grow wonderfully in small pots, and are the perfect plant to lend a touch of romance to a sunny city balcony.
Climbing miniature roses, like Rainbow’s Edge with showy orange and yellow flowers or the Red Cascade with its open, velvety red petals, can quickly cover an open frame or gazebo to create a rose covered trellis in one growing season.
Upright miniature roses, or standards, are tree roses that grow from 12-18 inches tall. A rose tree in full bloom is a delightful centerpiece accent in a low growing garden, or standing on its own in a container.
There are a number of miniature roses that trail, sending out runners with new growth and flowers. These make wonderful choices in a hanging basket, with drifts of flowers to cascade over the sides in a beautiful display of color. Best choices for hanging baskets include the aptly named Red Cascade and the ruffled pink Nostalgia.
Miniature roses are hardy bloomers that winter well even as far north as zone 4. They grow quickly, require little care outside of watering, and will reward you with dozens of blooms for very little effort.

How To Have An Organic Garden
Doing everything on this list does not make your garden a certified organic garden. The only way you can have a certified garden is to get the state’s certification and pay the fees that are associated with the inspections and testing that have to be done to get and maintain the organic certification. However, if you do the following, chances are that you would, in fact, pass the certification process.
So what are the four main points that you have to have in order to be considered organic?
1.Your garden can not be contained within any container or raised bed, including a garden boarder such as treated lumber, plywood or anything using chemicals that can leach into the soil. All of these are prohibited so if you have any type of container or raised bed, make sure they are certified organic.
2.The location of your garden must be in a place where there is no danger of water runoff that could contain pesticides and/or chemicals. So if your garden is located below a neighbor that uses chemicals on their lawn, that water cannot come through your yard into your garden if you want to be a pure organic garden.
3.Along the same line, nothing that is not certified Organic can enter into your garden. That includes fertilizer, seeds, plants, insect controls and nutrient supplements. Check to make sure that anything introduced into your garden is labeled and certified Organic. As soon as a non organic item is introduced the garden is considered non-organic.
4.If you can’t find certified organic seeds, and they can be hard to find, you can use seeds from your own crop. In other words, plant and grow your chosen plants in organic certified pots using organic soil and standards. Grow the plant strictly for seed production. The next growing season those seeds are considered organic and you can use those for your organic garden.
Yes, these guidelines are strict but if you truly are looking to grow organic herbs and vegetables, these are the things that must be adhered too. Now you also have an idea of what the organic farmers go through. It is estimated that they loose half their crops to insects and other problem due to farming in a natural way and sharing the crops with their natural predators. This is just one reason the cost of organically grown foods are higher than non-organic.
If you are just starting out and want to grow organic, it is highly recommended to start with a raised bed. It is a smaller space that is easier to control than a large garden plot. Just make sure your raised garden bed is made of organic substance and good luck!

It is also possible to find garlic based mosquito repellants that are highly effective at making your garden inhospitable to mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks. This is a little different than citronella as it is applied to your lawn and garden area rather than burned or applied to the skin.
Another thing you can do to make your garden inhospitable to mosquitoes is to fill it with creatures that prey on mosquitoes. There is nothing like a bigger fish in the sea to run the smaller fish to different hunting grounds. Plant trees, shrubs, and bushes that attract the birds that eat mosquitoes. This will provide plenty of nutrition for these birds while diminishing the mosquito population one snack at a time. Purple Martins are well known for eating mosquitoes and a great addition to any summer garden (though not for this reason alone).
Plant lemon thyme in your summer garden. If you crush the leaves it is believed to be an effective repellent for mosquitoes. Choosing this plant for your garden can help you naturally repel mosquitoes without smelling bad in the process, which is something that must rubs, sprays, and oils cannot always claim.
Mosquitoes are a huge problem in summer garden largely due to increased fears of West Nile Virus and other diseases they may carry from one person to the next. For this reason it is now more important than ever to control the population and limit our exposure to these harmful animals. Most of us wish to do this without adding new risks due to chemical exposure.
